avatar Another Hiatus? Explaining myself and a possitive outlook on the future of the podcast.

The short of it:

1. Personal Life got in the way the past few months. Leading to less free time to work on episodes.2. AMV.org livestreams for the VCAs took all my free time last month.
3. Encoding errors and general crud on my PC ruined my workflow, making episodes take days rather then hours to produce.
4. I plan to take the next few weeks off to re-install windows and upgrade my system as well as get to know Adobe CS6 and update and streamline my workflow.
5. More content is still coming to the website while the podcast hiatus is going on, such as Shutocon report, Blooper Reel, Older Audio Podcast Eps, more blog posts.
6. I thank every one of my followers for their paitience as I work through and resolve the issues I have with the podcast. Without ya’ll thered be no point in doing this!
7. Please comment on what you would like to see in the future for TWIAMVs. Any suggestion, any comment, good or bad, I wanna hear it!

avatar TWIAMVs – Supplimental 9-22-2012 – Youmacon Hiatus Annoucement

Yes, that’s right, I will be taking a break from doing the weekly podcasts in order to prepare for Youmacon. For those of you who don’t already know I run Youmacon’s Music Video Contest and am in charge of the Video/Audio Track department, where we show lots of fan created videos. Due to my duties and making sure we have the best content at the con I will need to take the time I normally dedicate to having these videos out and up for ya’ll in order to watch through TONs more AMVs and do video work for the con.

Don’t fret though, I will be posting featured videos to both the website ( http://twiamvs.ngsilver.com ) as well as my youtube feed, so there will not be a break in content, there just wont be podcast episodes. Also, I plan on releasing the promised AMV making process video where I go over what went into making my AWA Pro video sometime in October.

Next week (Sept 24th thru 28th) will continue as a normal TWIAMVs release schedule, with a Review Monday, Topic Tuesday, and Watch Wednesday podcasts followed by a Retro Thursday and Featured Friday blog post. However, after that there will not be a normal podcast release until November 12th, after I’ve recuperated from Youmacon.

Also, keep a look out for AWA related videos that I will be putting up after the con as I will be doing interviews and other recording at the event next week.

Finally, as a thank you for hitting that arbitrary 100 subscriber mark, I want to do a special TWIAMVs episode where I will dress up in whatever costume is the most popular. Please post your ideas in the comments below and the best ideas I’ll put up as a poll. The most popular choice will be the one I do.

avatar Podcast Updates: AWA Draws Near – Temporary Podcast/Stream Suspension

Sigh… Those of you who read last week’s Topic Tuesday post already know, but those of you who haven’t, Anime Weekend Atlanta’s Profession Contest’s deadline is fast approaching. In fact, the deadline is next Monday. As I’ve already stated, I have a very annoying work schedule this week (having to switch to working 3rd shift at the end of the week without any time to adjust my sleep schedule beforehand) followed by spending the weekend with my family as it’s my mom’s 50th this weekend. So lets just say that my free time is really limited this week. I would love to work on my videos for the con while I’m visiting but I don’t expect to have a whole lot of time to myself and my laptop wasn’t exactly designed to edit with, especially HD video.

Enough with the excuses. Basically, I’m going to temporarily suspend the normal video podcasts, that is Review Monday, Topic Tuesday, and Watch Wednesday, for this coming week. I didn’t want to have to do this, but I really need the time to finish at the very least 1 video for the con, and let me tell you, this video is kicking my butt as far as the time it’s taking to finish it. This is easily the longest I’ve spent on a video to date, and I’d hate to not meet my deadline.

In light of this, I will continue to update the website throughout the week. I plan to put up 3 special Video Spotlight posts, 1 for each missed podcast day, in order to help make up for this. Expect the first post to go live between 12 and 1 PM EDT today. Retro Thursday and Featured Friday posts will still happen as normal however, so keep watch for them at their normal times.

This also means that there will not be a livestream this Saturday either. I just wont be home in order to make sure it happens without incident. But don’t worry, we will pick back up with our normal schedule next week, starting Monday the 27th with another Review Monday episode.

I do plan to do something special for ya’ll in light of my editing bug. I plan to make up a special behind the scenes video, showing my process, for these AWA videos. Of course, due to the nature of the Professional contest, where part of the game is guessing who’s videos are who’s I wont be able to release this special video until voting is over. But I’ll keep ya’ll updated as far as the progress goes.

Either way, I look forward to seeing ya’ll next week. Enjoy the spotlights in the meantime.

avatar Topic Tuesday – Delayed – Death of an Icon

Guys, in light of the topic I have planned for this week, and recent events that have prompted this, I want to spend some more time making sure I do the topic justice. With that in mind, I’m going to have to take an extra day or two to make sure I do this justice. To be honest, it has been hard to write what I want to say and I want to make sure I say it properly. So expect this week’s topic Tuesday to come out around Thursday/Friday. In the mean time I will be posting a Video Spotlight as a make-up for the lack of the standard update for today.

For those of you who don’t know or haven’t heard, Patrick Bohnet, also known as Quu, passed away earlier this week. He was a great inspiration and one of the founding members of a-m-v.org as well as pioneering the technical side of AMV Contests. He has played a major role in Anime Weekend Atlanta’s VAT, making it a contest and department that is used as a standard for AMV rooms all over. I own what I know and do as a contest coordinator to him. He was a proud father and husband who loved his family and loved cooking as much as he loved AMVs. I will miss him as will many others. He has touched so many lives, and many more lives through his work without them even knowing it.
